Objective

We are seeking an AI Strategist and Clinical Data Analyst with a strong foundation in artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, and AI-driven methodologies to lead and support research initiatives and develop advanced tools to analyze, display, and leverage clinical data.  This role will focus on 1) identifying, evaluating, and implementing AI solutions that optimize clinical trial design and execution; and 2) applying advanced analytics to extract insights from clinical data to enhance biomedical understanding and inform decision-making.  This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to shape AI strategy in a fast-paced startup environment and contribute to groundbreaking advancements in oncology and nuclear medicine.

Essential Functions

AI & Research Tool Development

  • Define and implement a road map for AI initiatives across clinical programs, including pilot programs and long-term integration across functions.
  • Evaluate and implement cutting edge AI/ML tools for trial design, site selection, patient recruitment, data monitoring, and safety signal detection.
  • Champion responsible and ethical AI deployment, ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g. FDA, EMA) and data governance standards.
  • Assist in the development of AI-driven statistical tools to analyze clinical data and improve research workflows.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to enhance data-driven decision-making.
  • Support the automation of statistical analysis pipelines using AI agents.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate AI and deep learning into clinical analytics projects.
  • Assess AI vendor platforms, develop evaluation criteria, and contribute to vendor selection and management.
  • Build relationships with external collaborators, including academic institutions, AI vendors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Act as a thought leader and internal advocate for AI, educating cross-functional teams on AI capabilities and applications.

Data Analysis & Insights

  • Assist in developing processes for advanced analytics and data mining of clinical trial, EHR, and real-world data to generate actionable insights for clinical teams.
  • Assist in development of predictive models to support patient stratification, responder analysis, and trial optimization.
  • Collaborate with biostatistics, clinical operations, and clinical development to integrate data insights into strategic recommendations.
  • Perform data cleaning, validation, and exploratory data analysis on clinical datasets to ensure data accuracy and integrity and generate insights.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to visualize key metrics and insights for internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct predictive statistical modeling to evaluate treatment outcomes using data-driven techniques.

Education/Experience
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science required; advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as R, SQL, Python, etc., and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques such as natural language processing, deep learning, and predictive analytics.
  • Experience applying AI-driven approaches to real-world data problems, including model development, validation, and interpretation.
  • Hands-on project experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, CRO, or academic research setting preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with biomarker analysis or imaging data analysis is a plus.
  • Prior exposure to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory guidelines (FDA, EMA, ICH) related to biostatistics and clinical trials and statistical programming for regulatory submissions.
  • Demonstrated success in deploying AI/ML solutions in a healthcare context.

Knowledge/Skill/Abilities

  • Must possess excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, both internal and external.
  • This individual should be a self-starter with the ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills with root cause analysis tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Establishes strong inter-departmental relationships and is viewed as a valuable technical resource to others.
